Parent Jobs
The parent jobs are critical to the smooth running of a community school. It is a requirement that at least one parent work at the school a minimum of 3 hours per week. Our hope is that each family will go beyond the minimum in a spirit of cooperation, be willing to serve, and meet the needs of the school. Parent jobs need to be done with enthusiasm, confidence and consistency. Enthusiastically because of their necessary nature; confidently because you have the authority of those positions; and consistently because absence causes problems in running the school program. Parent jobs also save the school money. The jobs are necessary to run the school; therefore, to replace them with paid assistants would be costly and would raise tuition.
Parent jobs also help build community in the school. Parents working with other parents in a common goal builds relationships. Parents working with children from other families builds healthy adult-child relationships.
Parent job descriptions and applications are given out at the time of enrollment (May) for new families and existing families. After all applications are received, the Administrator will review all the applications and will place each parent in an appropriate Parent Job. Though we will try to accommodate each parent by placing you in a job by using the information provided, we may have to place you according to the greatest need. You will be notified of your selected position in August. If we do not receive your application, we will place you in a Parent Job at our own discretion.
Parent Meetings
Parent Academies are held three times each school year. This meeting is usually at 6:30pm on a Monday evening. All upcoming events, schedule changes and new information and Board decisions will be shared at this time. Parent Meetings are mandatory and it is expected that both parents will be in attendance. Childcare will not be provided.
Fundraisers and Donations
Because Heritage Oak School is committed to keeping our tuition fees low, we are dependent upon fund raisers and donations. Each family will be involved in raising a specified fundraising amount each year. Please see the Heritage Oak Fundraising Plan on the following page.
