Tuition Aid (Family Financial Needs Assessment)

Heritage Oak School Financial Aid Policy (revised 2003): Heritage Oak School will allocate no more than 10% of its budget to meet the financial needs of families. Each family will be required to meet 50% of the tuition requirement. The school’s priority for giving financial aid is as follows: widows, single parent, larger families. Current students will have priority over incoming families. Heritage Oak School uses an outside private company, FFNA (Family Financial Needs Assessment) to determine the financial needs of the family. Families must re-apply each year for financial aid.

Application for Financial Aid Procedures:

  1. Meet the FFNA criteria for financial aid listed below.
  2. Fill out the FFNA form and return to them with all requested information and processing fee of $20. Applications must be postmarked by March 1st. Please do not leave any sections of the application blank, this will only slow down the process.

It is the desire of Heritage Oak School Board that no one would be turned away from Christian education because of a lack of ability to pay tuition. It should be noted, however, that private education in a Christian environment will always require commitment and sacrifice on the part of the parent. Parents applying for financial aid should be prepared to work additional hours at the school in order to help alleviate the financial strain on the school budget. In many cases, a position at the school may be offered for a tuition credit.

Who should apply for aid?

FFNA has found that a family’s income is the best indicator of need. Therefore, the general rule of thumb is as follows:

Income under $42,000  - If your family’s adjusted gross income is under $42,000, you will probably qualify for aid. There are some exceptions. Families that own businesses with losses that cause their AGI to fall below $42,000 may be an exception, but you should submit an application to see if you qualify. Families that have assets, such as rental property or a farm, may also be an exception.

If your Income is over $42,000 – If your adjusted gross income is over $42,000, then your tuition must be at least 10% of your income before you would qualify for aid; i.e., an income of $60,000 would require a total family tuition of $6,000 or more to qualify for aid. Aid could be as low as 3% of full tuition or as high as 50% or more, depending upon FFNA’s assessment of need and the school’s maximum aid limit.
